AK Adventure Day 64: to Hope

Another “sleep in” morning...however, we never do that!!...I was going to do the laundry—remember that idea was ixnay’d this morning by the padlocked laundry room door...so...the heck with it!!...we just got up and headed out...grabbed a coffee at Fresh Sourdough Express...stopped by the garage sale at the Methodist Church (my peep worked there one week while on a mission trip some years back)...of course a chocolate bread from 2 Sisters Bakery!!...then to Bishop’s Beach to eat our breakfast—leftovers from Veronica’s!!

Refreshed...we stopped for a better Spit photo op before leaving Homer.

Headed NORTH...stopped at a couple of thrift stores in Kenai...at an agate beach in Nikishki—but we don’t REALLY know what agates are!!...then on to Captain Cook Park...to look for those dang concretions...still none!!...then on to Hope.

I wish I had know that this weekend was the Wagon Trail Festival/Run in Hope!!...we could have just come on here instead of rock hunting...and joined the 151 residents having some FUN!!... LOL!!

Our night’s campground had the same song and dance as last night!!...first off...they are so far removed from civilization—I suppose...that they had extreme trouble with their credit card machine...only 2 gals working the campground check-in, grocery store and liquor store!!...what a nightmare!! They, too, closed at 9:00pm...so we had to hustle to get our showers in the ONLY TWO shower rooms...and try to get our laundry washed in the ONLY TWO washers and dryers—which were already being used by the staff to wash the linens/towels from the rental cabins!!  AARGH!!...better planning needed by this tour guide!!

We decided to eat up some leftovers for dinner that we’d been carrying around. My peep still had a little wine left...so I went to get A BEER from the liquor store before closing!!...NO single beers could be bought...but a fellow ahead of me was buying 2 six packs...and just gave me one of his!!  That was NICE!!

My peep sorted through all of her stuff and repacked...it was a pleasant evening and many “campers” were sitting outside listening to the live music coming from some establishment next door...we chatted with our neighbors who were from Texas...we had been finding Texan tourists at every turn!!

Our last night of the whirlwind AK tour!!
