AK Adventure Day 62: Cooper Landing and Soldotna

Could we ever TOP yesterday’s stories??...well...the adventure continues....

Another early morning back at Miller’s Landing!!...AARGH!!...how could the bathroom be even WORSE today!!??  It was!!...still...lovely view of the bay!!

Drove on toward Cooper Landing...breakfasting at the Sunrise Cafe.

Morning tour was the 2 hour Kenai River Scenic Float. LOTS of eagles on this float...but unfortunately, no other wildlife...still...it was enjoyable.

GREAT float!!...NOW time for lunch!!  We chose Sackett’s Grill...and how fortuitous!! My sister was chatting with the counter help...and unbelievable!!...the two fellows are from Huntsville, TX!!...and my sister knows relatives of one of the fellows!!...SMALL WORLD!!...then after lunch, we asked IF we could leave a vehicle there so as to only have to pay for one entrance fee to Russian River Falls...one of the fellows said to go down to another place a park—he was the manager of that establishment!!...the girl and guy working there ...also were Huntsville connections!!

After much shenanigans trying to get a parking place at the Russian River Falls recreation area...we FINALLY hiked to the bear viewing platform.  There were hundreds of salmon in the stream...heading up to the Upper and Lower Russian River Lakes.  Although we didn’t see any bears feeding on this trip...we did see the fish jumping up the rocks as they headed upstream to spawn.

Back to get the van...and ice cream for dinner...then off to overnight in Soldotna....
