AK Adventure Day 43: Homer

YES!!...a HOT day here!!  Everyone said it was 80 degrees...but the internet says it was only 71 degrees!!  Who to believe??...whatever—I was SWEATING!!...I had to dig out the sandals, capris and a short sleeve shirt!!...ONLY because I didn’t want to be sweating like a PIG in “go to town” clothes for the afternoon party!!

LOTS of work by the Callahans, me and their 2 teenage fish helpers to get ready for the birthday celebration!!

ALL of the firewood was cut and stacked in the shed to clear up the driveway for some cars!!...Love the new fire pit area utilizing some of the big logs.

Decorations were made and hung up...wild flowers gathered and strategically placed around the party area....

LOTS of FOOD was prepared!!...ALL SORTS of homemade things utilizing farm ingredients—beef, eggs, milk, honey, salmon!!  Pepperjack Cheddar cheese, ice cream, dip from smoked salmon,  beef sliders with lettuce from the garden, homemade slider buns from fresh ground wheat berries, salmon burgers with dill from the garden, along with LOTS more goodies!!

One of the kid activities was painting rocks for the July 3rd International “Drop a Rock” Day.  I’d say MOST of the rocks ended up being some shade of brown or black!!...since most of the kids just couldn’t grasp the idea of rinsing out their brushes before dipping into the next color!!...WHO CARES??...the kiddos had a GREAT TIME painting...along with bubble blowing...chasing chickens...petting baby pigs...throwing sticks...etc.!!  Party favors were bags of candy...and Ninilchik Beach “Wishing Rocks.”

The party was a SUCCESS!!...
