Alaska...day 20...continued

Clouds are always an interesting phenomena on the drive.

Today's roads were mostly the pits, too. We said goodbye to the ALCAN highway outside of Watson Lake...

...and started down the Cassiair Highway. Pitiful...pitiful...pitiful road...drove through areas that had burned...did see some beautiful mountains.

We came to a little oasis in the wilderness!! Jade City...not sure if it is really a town, or just one family that has a jade mine. We needed a bathroom break and we saw a sign that said free coffee...so we ventured in to their lovely gift shop...availed ourselves of their conveniences...and marveled at the masses of jade they had fashioned into everything you can imagine.  Even the handles to flush the toilets were jade!!

LOVED the signs above the toilets!! SO TRUE you men folk!!

We are at the Kinaskan Lake Provencial Park...and here is the lovely view from our campsite.

Some may be skinny-dipping tonight!!

One more night for tenting it. Then back in the US and staying at various peoples' houses...so most will be sleeping indoors.

These past few days, we've continued to see the wildlife we've already checked off our list...moose, bears, eagles, squirrels...yesterday, we did add a wolf to the viewing experience...but although we have seen MANY caution signs for caribou, elk and sheep...we've seen nary a one!!...there's always tomorrow!!

I've started listening to Atlas Shrugged on audiobook...and I will be curious to see how far I can get before the journey ends. It helps keep me awake and pleasantly passes the time.
