AK Adventure Day 22: Mount Alice and Tonsina Hikes

Lovely day hiking in the temperate rain forests around Seward with peeps.

Hiked up Mount Alice....Things I learned: nursery trees--large tree trunks growing over/around huge boulders!!, some mountain trees have lower trunks bent because of heavy snow/ice, witch’s hair moss, sap scars —trunk splits open when the sap freezes fast after warm temps, salmon berry and service berry bushes, all sorts of wild flowers!!

I purposely stopped above the tree-line to chill and read my book!!...while the other die-hard mountaineers and their dogs trekked onward and upward into the fog!!...quite a peaceful time!!

Lovely scenery...even if the day was overcast, foggy, and quite chilly!!

After that hike, had lunch at the Brewery—again delicious!!...then we made the more leisurely Tonsina hike.  Now THAT is my kind of hiking!!...NOT mountaineering!!
