Tuesday 9-18-13 (6)

So... After 11days of trekking the Camino... Here are some observations...these are not based on fact... But on my observations, impressions, what I've heard from others ...etc.

Everyone has a private el Camino that is unique to them.

Some people take a tour bus, walking portions of each day with their group.

Some... Take RV's or their personal autos.

Some ride horses....

Some ride bikes...road bikes, they stick to the Bike Line on the roads. Astrid (the doctor from Holland) was doing this and would cover 60km per day!! She started her Camino from her own front door in Holland!!...some ride mountain bikes and take the road and or the walking trails!!...seems very difficult to me to take a bike on the walking trail!!
We've seen bikes with trailers behind, bikes with bags hanging from all parts ... And a mom/dad each riding bikes with the dad carrying a toddler in a child's seat!!...scarey!!

We've seen lots of walkers... Of course...and they come in all sorts, too!!

We have those who carry all of their things on their backs. We've seen those who carry a day pack and have their big mochilas transported each day to their next Albergue. There are even locals walking the paths near their homes carrying nothing. We've seen walkers pushing children in those big wheeled jogger's baby buggies.

Then comes the added differentiation of peregrinos who started at St. Jean in France... And are walking about 5 weeks to Santiago....those who started in various other places along the way...and hundreds who are on the Way with us today!! Today was definitely not as pleasant of a day as previous days!! Masses of people!! In order to get a pilgrim's certificate in Santiago... peregrinos have to have walked the last 100 km or biked the last 200km into Santiago....so, I'm assuming...that is why so many people started out walking today!! Sarria is 100 km out!!
