AK Adventure Day 83: Juneau

First day of Juneau tourism!!  WOOHOO!!

Juneau is one of only two state capitols that can only be reached by sea or air.  There is a 40 mile scenic drive in the area...so we headed north toward Echo Cove.  Along the route, there are many scenic stops.

Lena Beach State Recreation Area...

...Shrine of St. Therese...check out those rose hips!!...

...Sunshine Cove...

...Eagle Beach...

...we stopped at the NOA facility to see IF they offered tours...they do, and we’ll be back tomorrow for a 1.5 hr presentation...

...we took the Glacier Gardens tour.  The visitor center/gift shop grounds are BEAUTIFUL!!...I wouldn’t recommend the actual “tour”...since you just take a tram up into the woods which isn’t anything we haven’t already seen!!...I suppose the cruise tourists would have found that part interesting...maybe!!...blueberries, devil’s club, spruce trees...not much else!! BUT there was a nice scenic overlook.

...we also visited the Last Chance Mine.  Some interesting stuff there...

...back driving through downtown...catching interesting things along the way...
