AK Adventure Day 81: More Skagway FUN

Last night was the last night at the campground in Dyea...so we decided it was NOW time to walk around the remains of historic Dyea before heading back to Skagway. Located at the mouth of the Taiya River, there are very few remains of the once boom town!! The historical Dyea townsite made for a lovely morning walk!!

We next stopped at the Dyea Avalanche Cemetery...

More time walking around Skagway...and eating of course!!....

I needed some down-time...and was going to just hang out at the library and work on the blog!!...but no!!...some patron had recently downloaded bad things there!!...so the internet provider had temporarily cut them off!!...SHUCKS!!...small towns...RV parks...rural AK...you definitely have to consider that IF you have WiFi needs!!...LOL!!...I ended up just parking in the shade on a side street and doing some journaling!!

Skagway downtown looks quite different between early morning or say after 6:00pm...and during the middle of the SHOP TIL WE DROP daytime...congested with CRUISE tourists...it is UNBELIEVABLY PACKED!!

BTW Tidbit # 1: in our 4 days of Skagway tourism...the town was projected to have a minimum of 25,026 cruise ship tourists visiting!!...and that did not include any ship staff who might have time off!!...This day had over 10,000 onshore!!!...between the end of April and first week of October, the town has the possibility of having over 980,000 cruise ship visitors!!....YIKES!!....GREAT for business!!

A nice non-tourist crowded dinner at Olivia’s...and then we overnighted at the Skagway Small Boat Harbor parking lot.  The small boat harbor area had a nice restroom, and public showers.
